“Your body is a map of thresholds that cross back into yourself.”
— Teresa M. LaFontaine

Hi, I’m Teresa

I help people find **steadiness** from the inside out.

I’m a somatic coach, movement artist, and social scientist, completing a **PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Somatic Psychology**. I’m certified in Integrative Somatic Therapy (used in a coaching context), and my work speaks the language of the body—interoception, co‑regulation, pacing, and the subtle choreography of the nervous system.

My path is both scholarly and ancestral. My grandfather taught me **Santiguar**, a traditional healing practice that honors the body’s quiet messages: breath, warmth, tremor, release.

Living with **scoliosis** taught me to read sensations as a map—breath as a compass, posture as weather, and tiny shifts as reliable paths home.

With me, we move at the speed of safety. We listen. We experiment. Your system learns it has options—less bracing, more belonging. You’ll leave with lived‑in‑the‑body practices you can use anywhere: in a meeting, on the train, or at the kitchen sink.

What Is Somatic Psychology?

Somatic Psychology studies the living conversation between body and mind. It moves beyond “top‑down” change and listens to the nervous system as an integrated network—signals traveling both ways: body ↔ brain, feeling ↔ thought.

From this whole‑person lens, sensation, breath, posture, movement, memory, relationship, and culture all have a say in how we feel and how we heal.

From this whole‑person lens, sensation, breath, posture, movement, memory, relationship, and culture all have a say in how we feel and how we heal.

In practice, we treat the body as a source of knowledge, not a backdrop. We explore how early attachment shapes our rhythms; how stress and life events are stored and can be released; how social context lives in the tissues; and how empathy expands when we reconnect with the more‑than‑human world.

Coaching note:
Somatic coaching draws from this field to offer respectful, non‑clinical practices you can use daily—small, consent‑led experiments with breath and movement, language that meets sensation, and rituals that help your body remember calm.

Session by session, you build capacity: more space for clarity, creativity, and choice—lived in the body.

My grandfather taught me Santiguar—a traditional healing practice that honors the body’s subtle language. I hold this lineage with respect and integrate it through consent‑based, modern somatic coaching.
